Malik clarified that while the president has the authority to impose governor’s rule based on the prime minister’s advice under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, the federal government is still ‘pondering’ this option. Malik, however, insists the president can act independently, with parliamentary approval required later. Adding to the intrigue, Kundi recently met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss KP’s issues, including the governor’s rule debate. Sources claim Sharif expressed confidence in Kundi, signaling no intention to remove him. Yet, the meeting also highlighted Chief Minister Afridi’s rigid stance toward the federal government, armed forces, and bureaucracy—a point of contention reportedly fueling the governor’s rule discussion.
