A woman is facing murder charges following a tragic house fire that occurred in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne last month.
Around 1:45 AM on December 18th, emergency services received reports of a blaze at Sunburnt Circuit in Clyde North, located 46 kilometers southeast of Melbourne’s central business district.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered two men, aged 46 and 44, suffering from severe injuries. The 44-year-old succumbed to his injuries later that same day. Additionally, a woman was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to reports from ABC News.
In a statement released on Friday, police from Victoria confirmed that a 29-year-old woman, who had been hospitalized under police supervision, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. Authorities believe that those involved in the incident were acquainted with one another.
This accused individual has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.
Moreover, police noted that two other individuals present in the home during the fire, a 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, fortunately did not sustain any physical injuries.
As for the 46-year-old man, he remains hospitalized but is currently in stable condition.
