Suffolk's bin collection changes in 2026: A comprehensive guide

Suffolk residents, brace yourselves for significant changes in your bin collections starting 2026. The government's initiative to standardize recycling rules across England will result in each household having four bins from March 31st. This move aims to simplify recycling practices and boost the country's recycling rate.
The Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra) has announced that the current recycling system is confusing, with some areas having up to seven bins for waste and recycling. From next year, all councils will be mandated to collect glass, metal, plastic, paper, and card, along with food and garden waste.
Suffolk's councils are gearing up to implement these changes, with each council having its own approach.
Ipswich Borough Council

West Suffolk Council
